Ooh We're comin' from the mountains, Across the Northern plains It's off to California, Then back again to Maine Singin' a song that you all know, Then let your voices go So sing it out, my Brothers, wherever we may go We traveled here, we traveled there, we traveled ev'rywhere We go by air, We go by rail, Any place they pay us scale Comin' from the mountains, across the Northern plains It's off to California, Then back again to Maine Singin' a song that you all know, Then let your voices go So sing it out, my Brothers, wherever we may go

Gonna take a sentimental journey Gonna set my heart at ease Gonna make a sentimental journey To renew old memories I got my bag, I got my reservation Spent each dime I could afford Like a child in wild anticipation I long to hear that: "all aboard!" Seven, that's the time we leave - at seven I'll be waiting up for heaven Counting every mile of railroad track - that moves me back I never though my heart could be so yearny Why did I decide to roam Gotta take a sentimental journey Sentimental journey home

MTA 02:38
Well, let me tell you of the story of a man named Charlie On a tragic and fateful day He put ten cents in his pocket, kissed his wife and family Went to ride on the MTA Well, did he ever return? No he never returned and his fate is still unlearned He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston He's the man who never returned Charlie handed in his dime at the Kendall Square station And he changed for Jamaica Plain When he got there the conductor told him, "one more nickel" Charlie couldn't get off of that train! But did he ever return? No he never returned and his fate is still unlearned (poor old Charlie) He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston He's the man who never returned Now, all night long Charlie rides through the station Crying, "what will become of me? How can I afford to see my sister in Chelsea Or my cousin in Roxbury?" But did he ever return? No he never returned and his fate is still unlearned (shame and scandal) He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston He's the man who never returned Charlie's wife goes down to the Scollay Square station Every day at quarter past two And through the open window she hands Charlie a sandwich As the train comes rumbling through! But did he ever return? No he never returned and his fate is still unlearned (he may ride forever) He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston He's the man who never returned Now, you citizens of Boston, don't you think it's a scandal How the people have to pay and pay? Fight the fare increase, vote for ............... Get poor Charlie off the MTA! Or else he'll never return No he'll never return and his fate is still unlearned He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston He's the man who never returned He's the man who never returned He's the man who never returned

We come on the Sloop John B My grandfather and me Around Nassau town we did roam Drinking all night Got into a fight Well I feel so broke up I want to go home So hoist up the John B's sail See how the main sail sets Call for the Captain ashore Let me go home, let me go home I want to go home, yeah yeah Well I feel so broke up I want to go home The first mate he got drunk And broke in the Cap'n's trunk The constable had to come and take him away Sheriff John Stone Why don't you leave me alone, yeah yeah Well I feel so broke up, I want to go home So hoist up the John B's sail See how the main sail sets Call for the Captain ashore Let me go home, let me go home I want to go home, let me go home Why don't you let me go home (Hoist up the John B's sail) Hoist up the John B I feel so broke up I want to go home Let me go home The poor cook he caught the fits And threw away all my grits And then he took and he ate up all of my corn Let me go home Why don't they let me go home This is the worst trip I've ever been on So hoist up the John B's sail See how the main sail sets Call for the Captain ashore Let me go home, let me go home I want to go home, let me go home Why don't you let me go home

This land is your land, this land is my land From the California to the New York island From the Redwood Forest, to the gulf stream waters This land was made for you and me As I went walking that ribbon of highway I saw above me that endless skyway And saw below me that golden valley This land was made for you and me I roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts And all around me , a voice was sounding This land was made for you and me When the sun comes shining, then I was strolling In the wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling The voice was chanting as the fog was lifting This land was made for you and me This land is your land and this land is my land From the California to the New York island From the Redwood Forest, to the gulf stream waters This land was made for you and me When the sun comes shining, then I was strolling In wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling The voice come chanting as the fog was lifting This land was made for you and me

about

The Didajabs are a group of brothers who have been playing and singing together for quite some time. The Flynns have been a musical family for as long as any of them can remember. When they were youngsters they performed much of the music contained in this album at fairs, church socials, and other hootenannies of various sort. But for many a year now, this music has only been heard by those who make the annual summer trek up through Franconia Notch, along the Ammanoosuc River and down the Pinkham B to a little camp ground at the foot of Mount Washington named after a plucky mountain lady, Dolly Copp.
Each summer for over 50 years and counting, the Flynn family meet in Dolly's little green meadows to camp under the trees, hike up the mountains, swim in the river and sing around the campfire. This recording contains just a few of the songs the the Didajabs have performed through the years to the delight of their family at these cherished gatherings. While every effort was made to capture these artists with the greatest fidelity possible, the smell and crackle of burning pine logs, the taste of a freshly melted s'more, and the voices of the children singing along are left to the imagination and memory of the listener. Enjoy!
